Andrea Vaiano
PhD Candidate, Department of Statistical Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome

When not on a tennis court, you will find me researching quantitative models for inequality and income mobility (@Sapienza University). I am also working on a groundbreaking project to investigate the impact of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) on patients with liver disease (@Istituto superiore di Sanità). I focus mainly on statistical models for latent variables (eg. mixtures, Hidden/Latent Markov) and generalized linear models. In addition to my main research topics, I have also explored Bayesian statistics, phylogenetics, the Item Response Theory and Rasch models.
Statistical projects I love and support
- Tennisabstract — A whole new statistical look at tennis
- Ourworldindata — Data to support meaningful change
- Institute of Mathematical Statistics | XL Files — Statistics meets philosophy, epistemology and the great questions worth asking
- Fooled by randomness | Fat tails — “Doing Statistics Under Fat Tails”, or how uncertainty rules the world
